Microchipping

  Back

A microchip implant is an identifying integrated circuit placed under the skin of a dog, cat, horse, or other animal. The chips are about the size of a large grain of rice and are based on a passive RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology. The use of externally attached microchip devices such as RFID enabled ear tags (piercings rather than implants) is another, related method commonly used for identifying farm and ranch animals other than horses. In some cases the external microchips may be readable on the same scanner as the implanted style.

Can you imagine how awful it would be to lose your pet or suffer a neighbour laying claim to your most precious friend? The people at idENTICHIP fully appreciate the distress you may feel if your beloved pet goes missing. That's why they have put together a proven system to ensure that we do all that we can to re-unite you with your pet.

idENTICHIP is a microchip and an electromagnetic coil in a capsule the size of a grain of rice. Once inserted into your pet, it provides an inexpensive but permanent means of identification throughout your pet's life. The idENTICHIP is inserted into the scruff of the neck in a quick and painless manner. Each one has it's own unique identification number and once implanted the idENTICHIP remains electronically inactive until scanned by a special microchip scanner.

idENTICHIP responds to a low voltage electronic signal from the scanner and transmits its unique code, which is then displayed. This allows us, Vets, Pet Rescue Staff, Dog Wardens and the Police to then access a database to discover the identity of the pet and its owner. idENTICHIP was the first UK microchip when introduced in 1989 and there are over 2 million animals with an idENTICHIP in the UK. It is unique in that it has a patented anti-migration cap which ensures that the microchip cannot move around the body of the pet. All kittens that are re-homed by us have an identichip implanted and we are also able to insert an idENTICHIP for you into your pet today.

We charge £23.00 for each identichip. Contact us today!
